Taxco

So, yesterday we got to Taxco, an old silver-mining town southwest of Mexico City. We took the bus (the most luxurious bus I have ever been on - and all for $10!) and got here in about 2.5 hours. After the hustle and bustle of the big city, this tiny little place was just what we needed. Walking around the city center takes a mere 15 minutes (though the actual city spreads all over the nearby mountains) - unless you stop at the hundreds of silver-selling places. Supposedly, this is one of the epicenters of handcrafted silver jewelry in the world. The hotel we stayed at - Mi Casita - couldn´t have been better. A sweet old house on the side of a mountain, very tastefully restored and decorated. We only stayed for a night and as beautiful as Taxco is, we believe it was a good decision for us to head on today to the old colonial and Volkswagen production city Puebla. The bus leaves at 4 pm this afternoon and we should get there by about 8 or 8.30 at night. For now, however, some Taxco impressions. More from Puebla or Oaxaca (we´re headed there on Wednesday)...
